Account management is a type of sales position that focuses on maintaining and growing client relationships. Account managers have two main goals: to keep their clients' business and to expand their opportunities. They achieve these goals by learning about their clients' objectives and assisting them in achieving them. For the client, the account manager serves as a long-term liaison and, hopefully, a trusted consultant. The account manager can help their clients by answering their questions, solving their problems (ideally with customized product or service solutions), and developing a long-term strategic partnership with them that extends beyond the original sale by understanding their needs.
